Maria Sheffield: Response to President Obama - State of the Union Address

More Failed Policies

Obama is doubling down on his failed policies of more spending, higher taxes and more regulations which have made our economy worse.

The economic reality of his failed policies is clear: millions of unemployed Americans, destroyed jobs, sky-high poverty levels, skyrocketing national debt and suffering middle-class families.

In a desperate attempt to get re-elected, the President is pandering to extremist groups in his base and causing the loss of more American jobs as a result.

Campaigner-in-Chief

The Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post point out the truth:

“This Will Be A Key Moment Of His Re-Election Bid… Designed To Frame The Campaign.” “The speech will be a key moment of his re-election bid—it will attract one of the biggest prime-time audiences of any event this year—and is designed to frame the campaign for Americans, especially gloomy independent voters. The White House is hoping to win them back via a defense of the middle class, articulated through an attack on Republicans and Wall Street bankers.”  (Laura Meckler & Carol E. Lee, “State Of The Union Speech To Feature Sharper Tone,” The Wall Street Journal, 1/23/12)

Address Serves As A Campaign Message To Win Back Independent Voters “…Obama will be appealing to a more important audience beyond the chamber: the coveted independent voters who helped elect him in 2008 but have since cooled on his leadership.” (Scott Wilson, “Obama’s State Of The Union Is Crucial Balancing Act,” The Washington Post, 1/23/12)

Straight to the Campaign Trail

Bloomberg observes:

President Obama To Hit The Campaign Trail Day After SOTU In Florida, Arizona, Iowa, Nevada, Colorado & Michigan. “Obama will leave the morning after the State of the Union for a three-day trip to Iowa, Arizona, Nevada, Colorado and Michigan. Along with Florida, all are battlegrounds in the presidential election.” (Roger Runningen & Margaret Talev, “Obama’s State of Union Sets Table For Campaign Against Congress,” Bloomberg, 1/23/12)

Congressman John Barrow: “working hand-in-hand” with President Obama

Congressman John Barrow represents the belief that government can do better for America than people can.

I believe in people, not government.

Congressman John Barrow represents the belief that government is good and small businesses are bad.

I believe in free enterprise, not big government.

We need leadership. I am - a conservative - I will lead on issues.
